Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has updated its Artificial Intelligence Strategy with targets that include cutting traffic congestion by 3 to 5 per cent and accidents involving newly licensed drivers by 10 to 20 per cent.

The plan also aims to shorten case and complaint processing by 20 to 30 per cent, reduce waiting times at Customer Happiness Centres by 14 to 16 per cent and speed up service delivery at those centres by 15 to 20 per cent.

The strategy spans 41 areas across the authority. Its first two implementation waves cover 11 business areas, including vehicle licensing, traffic, roads and public transport. Over two and a half years, RTA plans to build 40 AI products, 11 of which are already complete.

RTA expects more than Dh300 million in annual added value and plans to shift 50 per cent of its operations and services to an Agentic AI ecosystem.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA's Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, said the strategy moves the authority from AI tools that support operations towards systems that can analyse data, predict outcomes and deliver services.
