'Dhay Al Layyah' has opened its doors to visitors in Sharjah.
SHARJAH, February 27, 2026 (WAM) -- The first edition of the "Dhay Al Layyah" (Light of the Night) Ramadan initiative, organized by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Support Foundation (RUWAD), was inaugurated on Thursday evening at the Al Layyah Canal Walk in Sharjah. The initiative is supported by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and the Sharjah Initiative Implementation Authority (Mubadara). This initiative, which will last for 11 days, is part of RUWAD's efforts to enhance the presence of national projects at community events and to open direct communication channels between these projects and the public. It contributes to the sustainability of the projects and particularly expands marketing opportunities during the month of Ramadan. Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Head of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, noted on this occasion that the "Dhay Al Layyah" initiative is being organized by RUWAD for the first time and represents an excellent example of the integration of roles between organizations supporting entrepreneurial projects and the local community. Al Mahmoud emphasized that such initiatives reflect the Emirate of Sharjah's commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and showcasing their products in vibrant environments and suitable shopping atmospheres. He also stated that this event strengthens communication between business owners and local residents, creating a unique Ramadan shopping destination by offering the public an opportunity to discover the products of these projects. This situation supports the growth and expansion opportunities of these projects and particularly promotes a culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment among young people. RUWAD's Deputy Director Fatima Al Ali explained that the "Dhay Al Layyah" initiative is an extension of social initiatives launched by RUWAD in recent years, such as "Ruwad Majlis," "Business Stars," and "Mada," which aim to support national projects and strengthen partnerships between them and various segments of society. Al Ali indicated that the event will run until March 8 and includes ten food and beverage projects, including eight retail projects and several mobile food trucks. She added that the selection of the Al Layyah Canal walkway as the venue reflects the commitment to reach local residents and people from neighboring areas, creating a Ramadan atmosphere that blends social and economic elements. The mini-festival features a visual identity inspired by the waves of the Al Layyah Canal and Ramadan nights. It also includes a traditional seating area for local residents, a corner dedicated to local cuisine, and a traditional food stall.
