FOCP brings together 300 families for the Ramadan Iftar.

SHARJAH, March 12, 2026 (WAM) -- The Friends of Cancer Patients Association (FOCP) brought together 300 cancer patients and their families at its annual Ramadan Iftar held at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah. This event created an atmosphere filled with compassion, solidarity, and spiritual reflections for patients and their loved ones during the holy month. The Iftar was organized with the support of IFFCO Group, the event's sponsor, as part of FOCP's efforts to strengthen connections with patients and their families and to reinforce the values of social solidarity during the holy month. The event was attended by FOCP President Sawsan Jafar, FOCP Director Aisha Al Mulla, board members, Board Secretary Sheikha Aysha Al Qasimi, Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, and Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Zarouni, along with other board members. In her opening speech, Sawsan Jafar stated that this gathering aimed to strengthen connections with patients and their families, providing emotional and spiritual support. She emphasized the importance of the joint efforts of institutions and individuals in advancing the organization's mission and promoting a culture of generosity and social responsibility that enhances the quality of life for cancer patients. Jafar remarked, “At FOCP, we are a family. Our patients, survivors, and their families stand alongside the Board, our dedicated team, our volunteers, our donors, and our sponsors. Together, we share responsibility and face difficult moments with hope, trust, and faith. This gathering reflects a fundamental principle of the association's work: cancer and any illness is not the burden of a single person, but a responsibility shared by families and the broader community.” As part of the program, a lecture titled "Excellence in the Quran" was delivered by Al Muntada Al Islami. The session highlighted the role of Islamic values and the Quran in shaping character and enhancing resilience in facing life's challenges, particularly for cancer patients and their families. Throughout the evening, FOCP honored Al Muntada Al Islami for its cultural and awareness programs that promote social connection and humanitarian values based on Islamic teachings.
