ABU DHABI, March 10, 2026 (WAM) -- The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, aims to enhance transportation services around the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during Ramadan 2026, facilitating access for worshippers and visitors while ensuring a safe and seamless mobility experience. The ITC operates an integrated traffic management system around the Mosque through the Traffic Control Room throughout Ramadan. Roads and signalized intersections surrounding the Mosque are monitored by surveillance cameras to enable rapid response to any congestion or traffic incidents. Portable Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been installed in the area, while fixed VMS provide informative messages to guide visitors and road users. Additionally, on-site inspectors have been assigned to assist in managing traffic flow at nearby traffic signals. Road Service Patrols and vehicle towing services are available, with increased patrols to respond quickly to accidents; this is particularly aimed at ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow during iftar hours and the last ten nights of Ramadan for Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers. The ITC has also allocated approximately 100 taxis daily throughout Ramadan, with additional vehicles deployed to meet the anticipated increase in demand during the last ten days of the month. On-site inspectors and traffic coordinators have been appointed to manage taxi operations in coordination with operating companies. In collaboration with the Mosque management team, designated pick-up and drop-off areas have been established. Public transport bus services have also been increased to facilitate access to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during Ramadan, with additional capacity provided during peak times. As part of the plan, the Q3 Line will operate with larger buses that have an 85-passenger capacity, replacing smaller buses that previously served this route. Two additional buses will operate on the line during the evening, providing approximately 60 extra trips between Rabdan Bus Station and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Bus Stop. Furthermore, bus lines X5, 54, 44, and 23 have been adjusted to directly serve the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque bus stop, with a total of 27 extra trips provided during the evening. Three buses have also been allocated to transport passengers to suburban areas with higher demand from Rabdan Bus Station. (Source: WAM.ae)
