The United Arab Emirates has taken legal action after a resident published an advertisement deemed offensive to Emirati women, implying that they lack natural beauty.

The UAE National Media Authority responded by launching legal proceedings and suspending the advertising permit of the person responsible for three months.

The advertisement drew wide public reaction online. Emirati content creator Danya Almulla was among those who published a video responding to the material.

Authorities restated that the country will not tolerate content that offends Emirati women or undermines their role in society, and called on social media users to publish responsibly and to respect the values and national identity of the UAE.
