Motorists in the United Arab Emirates can now register to have four black points removed from their traffic records by observing road rules and meeting the conditions of a new national campaign.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior’s "Day Without Accidents" campaign, which takes place on 31 August, coinciding with the start of the new school year.

Officials said the aim is to encourage drivers to reduce speed, remain alert and drive safely at a time when roads around schools become significantly busier.

Drivers who sign up and complete the programme without violations qualify for the removal of four traffic points from their file.
