UAE public school students from kindergarten to Grade 2 will no longer be given traditional homework starting from the 2026-27 academic year.

The change means more time for children to play, read, relax and spend time with family after school, while parents also get a break from supervising homework.

The move is part of the UAE's 2026-27 school readiness measures, aimed at easing the load on early learners. Instead of sending work home, schools will focus on literacy, communication and other foundational skills through classroom activities.
