DUBAI, March 10, 2026 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Economy and Tourism organized the 'Ramadan Riyada Majlis' event in Dubai, bringing together leading women entrepreneurs and business leaders from the United Arab Emirates. The purpose of the event was to foster dialogue, facilitate the sharing of best practices, and encourage the launch of various economic initiatives that support the country's sustainable development journey. The session was attended by Badreya Al Maidoor, Deputy Director General of the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism; Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi, Founder and Chairperson of AHQ Investments; and Arwa Al Falasi, Director of Partnerships and Communications at the UAE Gender Balance Council, along with several Emirati businesswomen and female entrepreneurs. Highlighting the central role of women in the global economy, Badreya Al Maidoor stated, “Today, women entrepreneurs are a significant driving force in global economies with their effective and innovative initiatives, as well as their leadership in finance, business, and innovation. Under the guidance of smart leadership, the UAE has taken significant steps to provide a competitive business environment, expertise, and comprehensive support to empower women entrepreneurs and SME owners, reflecting their vital contributions to the national economy.” She added, “The Ministry of Economy and Tourism collaborates with local and international partners to develop strategies that support women entrepreneurs, facilitate their access to resources and expertise, and enhance growth opportunities. Notable initiatives include the national campaign 'Emirates: The World’s Venture Capital,' overseen by the Ministry, which offers Emirati women unique opportunities to expand their businesses and enter new sectors.” Emphasizing the connection between well-being and economic success, Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi remarked, “Women’s health should be elevated as a measurable national KPI, recognizing that hormonal and preventive well-being at every stage of life is fundamental to sustainable economic growth, workforce resilience, and long-term national performance.” The event featured five panel discussions. The first session addressed women's mental health and work-life balance with the participation of Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi, focusing on raising awareness and inspiring participants to ensure their personal and professional development. The second session highlighted the experiences of innovative women from the Ministry of Community Development, sharing practical insights on entrepreneurship, overcoming challenges, and learning valuable lessons. It also emphasized the Ministry's role in supporting family businesses and providing practical advice to aspiring entrepreneurs. The third session discussed policies that promote gender equality and support women's participation in economic sectors, aiming to raise awareness of gender balance policies in the UAE and encourage participants to engage in initiatives that enhance women's economic inclusivity. Meanwhile, the fourth panel showcased the journey of Sumaya Al Maskari, Founder of Core Studio, demonstrating how to transform a passion for health and wellness into a lifestyle and a successful business model. It provided a practical model for integrating health and wellness into entrepreneurship by encouraging participants to adopt healthy and balanced lifestyles. The final session highlighted the contributions of Emirati women entrepreneurs in developing pioneering projects in the tourism and hospitality sectors. This underscored their role in strengthening the national economy and authentically combining local tourism initiatives with economic sustainability, showcasing cultural innovation and diverse visitor experiences.
