The Arab Journalists Federation has called for caution against misinformation.
NEW YORK, March 7, 2026 (WAM) -- The Arab Journalists Federation emphasized the necessity of rigorously verifying information sources before dissemination under current circumstances, highlighting the increasing attention required. The Federation stated that misinformation, misleading rumors, and fabricated news pose significant risks, noting that these are tools used by parties seeking to disrupt social harmony and weaken stability. In a statement published on Friday, the Federation remarked that the rapid flow of information in the modern age imposes a profound ethical and national responsibility on individuals regarding the content they consume and share. The organization strongly warned against the influence of "electronic committees" spreading lies to distort facts and fake accounts, arguing that such networks serve narrow agendas designed to create confusion and undermine national unity. The Federation underscored the necessity of obtaining facts from legitimate channels and official government institutions that uphold high standards of professionalism and reliability. It also reiterated that the impact of circulating misinformation should not be underestimated, emphasizing that national and moral responsibility falls on every individual. In this context, Dr. Ahmed Noor, President of the Arab Journalists Federation, appreciated the pioneering role of the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Noor noted that the UAE employs advanced media professionalism and technological expertise to safeguard its security and protect its citizens and residents. He added that the UAE's determination to protect society from internal or external threats reflects a regional and global model of dedicated leadership vision aimed at preserving national achievements and ensuring public welfare.
