As a response to Iran's targeting of military and energy facilities in Gulf countries in retaliation for US-Israeli attacks, regional nations are increasingly adopting a tougher stance against Iran. Qatar had previously requested Iranian diplomats in the country to leave. In the UAE, facilities deemed "Iran-connected" have begun to be shut down, including the Iran Hospital, which was established in Dubai in 1972. The hospital had provided affordable healthcare services for decades. Its website is currently inaccessible, and the phone line has been disconnected. There had also been previous allegations that the hospital was involved in "Iran's intelligence operations." The Financial Times reported that a UAE government official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that institutions "directly linked to Iran" would be closed due to their misuse for purposes that do not serve the Iranian people and violate UAE laws. According to an AP report, the UAE government confirmed the closures in a statement. It said, "Certain institutions directly linked to the Iranian regime and the (Revolutionary Guards) will be closed as part of targeted measures after it has been determined that they are being misused to advance purposes that do not serve the Iranian people and violate UAE laws." The "Iran Club" in Dubai had also previously announced on Instagram that it would be closing "due to current conditions."
