A Dubai court has fined a woman Dh10,000 and ordered her to repay Dh700,000 after she sold a counterfeit Patek Philippe watch to a man who believed it was authentic.

The buyer reported the matter after discovering that the timepiece was fake. The court found that he had been misled about the watch's authenticity and that the money had been obtained through fraudulent means.

The ruling imposed a fine, ordered the return of the money and the confiscation of the counterfeit watch. A subsequent civil case addressed the buyer's loss through a repayment order carrying interest and costs.

The woman challenged the verdict, but her appeal was rejected and the original ruling was upheld. She then took the case to the Court of Cassation, which also dismissed her challenge, making the criminal judgement final.
