Dubai schools could soon have more flexibility around when the school day starts and ends, as the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) looks at ways to ease the daily traffic rush.
Schools can request changes to their timings, but any adjustment needs to be approved by KHDA and must take student wellbeing into account.
KHDA says it does not want to impose one school timing across Dubai. That's because schools have different curricula, schedules and extracurricular activities, so what works for one school may not work for another.
The move means children may spend less time stuck in traffic, as schools can adjust their timings to avoid the peak rush hours on the roads.
