Dubai Municipality crowned the champion of the 13th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament in wheelchair basketball.

DUBAI, March 5, 2026 (WAM) -- Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Tennis and Padel Federation, declared Dubai Municipality the champion in the Wheelchair Basketball competition held as part of the 13th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. Federal National Council Member Mona Khalifa Hammad, Asian Paralympic Committee President and Dubai Sports Council Board Member Majid Al Osaimi, and Tournament Director Hassan Al Mazrouei were also present to award the winners of the Wheelchair Basketball competition. In a fiercely contested final, Dubai Municipality managed to defeat the smart and swift opponent, Dubai Police, with a score of 55-46. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) team in Dubai had to settle for a bronze medal after a 64-58 victory against the Dubai Courts team. Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, along with Hassan Al Mazrouei, also honored the winners of the opening event of the UAE Padel Tour 2026. This event was held as part of the local ranking tournament 'Ellington 2026' organized by the UAE Tennis and Padel Federation. The Padel Tour is conducted in collaboration with the Ellington Sports Foundation, which aims to support new talents, elevate the level of competition, and provide players with structured and sustainable development pathways from an early age. This contributes to the establishment of a long-term sports culture in the UAE. The tournament is part of a calendar of 35 events planned across the UAE during the 2026 UAE Padel Tour season, aligning with a strategy aimed at expanding the reach of sports and strengthening its presence at community and competitive levels. In the men's category, the championship was won by Fares Al Janahi and Majid Al Janahi, while the women's title went to Fatima Al Janahi and Aisha Al Awadhi. In the 20-point category, Rashid Kamal and Ali Taghizadeh Najafi triumphed, awarding Abdullah Al Balushi and Abdul Rahman Samer the silver medal. In the men's category, Ahmed Khaled and Hassan Al Qattan shared the second place, while Fatima Shahdour and Alia Abdullah Taher took second place in the women's category. In the tug-of-war competition, the National Guard team continued their winning streak by defeating the Dubai Civil Defense team 2-0. The Ministry of Defense team also defeated the Dubai Police team 2-0 in the fourth round of the Government Institutions category. In the quarter-finals of the community category, Global defeated Al Jawarih, while Al Mahdawi & Al Harbi overcame Wasl; IFBB Sports Academy surpassed Al Ajban, and Level Up won against AJ Mustafa 1-0.
